The film festival of comedy short films, which is called Charcajada, will hold its second edition from August 11 to 13, 2023 in the culture room of the Campillo de Altobuey City Council. This second edition of the festival has been possible after the success of its debut last year. The organization of the event has already selected works that will be screened during the weekend.
This selection of short films will be evaluated by a renowned jury, which will distribute the awards for 'Best Short Film', 'Best Manchego Short Film', 'Distribution Award' and a final one awarded directly by the public. The prizes are €300, €200, €400 and €150 respectively and each one will be accompanied by its corresponding trophy.
During the Charcajada weekend Outlook Email Lists a tribute will be paid to the Spanish actress María Barrón, due to her great career. Her interpretations in cinema, such as Verano Azul or Farmacia de Guardia , and in theater have been an icon in Spanish culture, which is why the organization has decided to honor her.
The organizers' commitment to culture is so strong that during the weekend there will also be an exhibition about the mayos, a local tradition based on songs that, due to various circumstances, ended up being lost. The exhibition can be seen in the same House of Culture where the short films will be screened.
The festival organization has decided to hold a new edition, as was its objective since the birth of the project. This reissue has been possible thanks to the reception it received last year from the residents of the town of La Mancha.
Charcajada continues to have the same spirit as when it was born, a symbol of this is its non-profit organization. It also maintains its commitment to promoting culture, and especially cinema, as a means of communication and entertainment. On the other hand, it seeks to promote the cultural fabric of the region and encourage the participation of the town's young people.
In the long term, the organization aims to turn Charcajada into a benchmark event for comedy cinema in Spain, following in the wake of other festivals such as Comedia de Tarazona and Moncayo de Huesca.
